Our colorful hand dyed wool vision
We moved to Sun and Wind Farm in Texas six years ago after spending our lives in cities and suburbs in the Northeast. (We know it’s Texas and we should probably call it a ranch, but farm just sounds better to our Eastern ears.)
Over the last few years, we have raised sheep (mostly Shetlands), goats and chickens on the farm. You can find photos of many of our sheep on this page.
Frances has long had an interest in fiber arts. Our home is decorated with many of the colorful hooked rugs and quilts that she has made over the years. It was a natural extension of this interest for her to begin creating her own hand dyed wool for her rugs. From there, it was just a short step more to selling her rug hooking wool on our Ebay store.
As the Sun and Wind Farm online presence began to increase, with a blog, a fledgling web site and a Facebook page, we knew the time had come to bring it all together into a single place. That work culminated in the site you are now visiting, which includes our own online Wool Shop, photos of our flock and our behind-the-scenes blog detailing everyday life here on the farm. Our site opened to the public in August of 2012. We still maintain our Ebay store, as well as a store on Etsy, which caters to its creative community.
Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to let us know what you think and what we can do to make the Sun and Wind Farm site even better for you.
